Goodreads Summary:

Presented by James Patterson’s new children’s imprint, this deliciously creepy horror novel has a storyline inspired by the Ripper murders and an unexpected, blood-chilling conclusion…

Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord’s daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.

Against her stern father’s wishes and society’s expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle’s laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.

The story’s shocking twists and turns, augmented with real, sinister period photos, will make this dazzling, #1 New York Times bestselling debut from author Kerri Maniscalco impossible to forget.

Spoiler free Summary:

This book has been on my TBR pile for a super long time. I kept putting it off because I don’t typically read historical books. I decided to finally read it since I want to meet Kerri Maniscalco at BEA and BookCon and oh my gosh I loved it!!

Kerri Maniscalco has recreated an amazing world loosely centered around true events. I think it is amazing that the author was able to put true parts of the Jack Ripper history into the book. I have never really learned a lot about Jack the Ripper, so it was such a fun read to experience. This book was nothing like I have ever read in the past.

This author keeps you on your toes the whole time guessing who around the main character could be Jack the Ripper and why they are doing it. You will not want to put this down until you have read the very last sentence.

The character development was outstanding. Kerri Maniscalco makes you thinking a certain opinion about a character and show the growth of them to becoming such an outstanding character. I absolutely loved the development of Audrey Rose Wadsworth and Thomas Cresswell.

I cannot wait to read Hunting Prince Dracula and fall more in love with Kerri Maniscalco’s characters and beautiful writing. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in history, mystery, or a novel that you will not be willing to put down. Please, please go read this now!
