Author: Rainbow Rowell
Genre: Contemporary, Young Adult
Goodreads Summary:
“Hi, I’m the guy who reads your e-mail, and also, I love you…”
Beth Fremont and Jennifer Scribner-Snyder know that somebody is monitoring their work e-mail. (Everybody in the newsroom knows. It’s company policy.) But they can’t quite bring themselves to take it seriously. They go on sending each other endless and endlessly hilarious e-mails, discussing every aspect of their personal lives.
Meanwhile, Lincoln O’Neill can’t believe this is his job now- reading other people’s e-mail. When he applied to be “internet security officer,” he pictured himself building firewalls and crushing hackers- not writing up a report every time a sports reporter forwards a dirty joke.
When Lincoln comes across Beth’s and Jennifer’s messages, he knows he should turn them in. But he can’t help being entertained-and captivated-by their stories.
By the time Lincoln realizes he’s falling for Beth, it’s way too late to introduce himself.
What would he say . . . ?
Spoiler free Summary:
I recently read a couple books about people who met online and later met in person and found this while looking for another similar to the others. I have heard so many good things about this book over the years and was excited to read it since I loved Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell. I ended up starting this when I got on my cruise, but honestly had the hardest time getting through the first half, it just seemed to go on and on with useless information.
I thought some things that didn’t seem like they belonged were the Y2K aspects and the going to the Sacajawea concerts. I mean don’t get me wrong after halfway through I was fully invested and loved it, I just had a hard time getting to that point. Then when things began to speed up I couldn’t put the book down and Rainbow Rowell’s genius came out to shine.
I really think this can be a very good book for people to read because all of the topics that it touches, just know not to give upon on it if you don’t like the beginning. I will definitely try reading more of the authors book in the future.
I would recommend this to anyone likes contemporary and romance!
